Since BC is parallel to AD, the figure ABCD is a trapezoid. The area of a trapezoid is the average of the parallel sides times an altitude. Since CE is perpendicular to ADis an altitude.

Since   \small \frac{1}{2}=0.5,   E is the correct answer.
